Moving your message to those who need to hear it can be challenging. I help people identify the big idea behind their organizations and creative lives – who they are at their core, what others can expect from them, and even how the world would be different if they didn't exist. From there, we craft communications that best reflect their unique identity. We aim to create a pull, not a push – an emotional resonance born of authenticity and clarity.
Words are my first love. Whether developing a creative treatment, writing a documentary script, tackling a grant, fashioning a compelling press release or feature story – or providing skillful editing of author manuscripts – my goal is to infuse stories with clarity and lasting impact. When I'm not working with clients, I write essays, creative nonfiction and short stories, and am currently at work on my first novel.
At workshops, conferences and in academic settings, I teach documentary filmmaking, the art of the video interview, and brand communications. I also consult with documentary filmmakers at every stage of production as they consider style, structure, and story. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is speaking in classrooms to inspire young people to rethink our disposable mindset, take action to mitigate climate change, reduce their single-use plastic consumption, and foster biodiversity.
The passion of an award-winning journalist, university lecturer and documentary filmmaker can add dimension to a conference or public event. As a speaker and panelist, I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge on themes explored in my films, and have addressed a variety of topics ranging from the changing media landscape to environmental challenges facing our communities due to climate change.
